The DeMolay Order has been established thanks to the efforts of Dad Alberto Mansur, who took knowledge about the Order in 1970, in one of his trips to the United States, after reading “The New Age - July 1969”, commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the DeMolay Order. Observing how important was this Institution and the necessity to fill a vital gap in Brazilian FreeMansory, the dream to bring the DeMolay Order to Brazil was awakened.

After lots of unsuccessful contacts with the International Supreme Council of the Order of DeMolay, Alberto Mansur personally met in 1974, the North-American Sovereign Grand Inspector George A. Newbury, who was participating in the VII Reunion of the Sovereign Grand Inspectors of the Americas, held in Rio de Janeiro, to whom revealed his desire to create the DeMolay Order in Brazil.

Soon after Newbury returning to his country the first contacts to Supreme Council of the DeMolay Order with Brazil happened. The dream was coming true!

Alberto Mansur in his first official report like Sovereign Grand Inspector of the Supreme Council for the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in the Federative Republic of Brazil, announced as main goal of his administration the foundation of the DeMolay Order, initiating a great job of spreading the Order in all Brazilian territory.

After five unsuccessful years, fate manifested itself, Alberto Mansur had the happiness of meeting in Boston, in 1979, the International Grand Master C. C. “Buddy” Faulkner Jr., great leader and enthusiast of the DeMolay Order, that showing a great vision immediately gave to Mansur the authorization to found the Order in Brazil, been named by “Buddy”, on March 06, 1980, Member of International Supreme Council and Executive Official to the Order to Brazil.

This way, the Supreme Council for the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite decided to support the first Chapter of the DeMolay Order in Brazil, in Rio de Janeiro city, entitled “Capítulo Rio de Janeiro da Ordem DeMolay”.

On August 16, 1980 the “Capítulo Rio de Janeiro” was founded in a solemn ceremony in the headquarter of the Supreme Council for the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. For the first time in history, the DeMolay Order’s degrees were given in South America by a Masonic group of the Supreme Council for the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. Presiding, as Master Councilor and Official Installer, Alberto Mansur, initiating, this way, 63 young men. After the ceremonies of Initiation and Elevation of the Ritual, which was translated to Portuguese by Alberto Mansur, happened in the afternoon the Tenure of the Officers of the Chapter, taking the master councilor post, Brother Jorge Alberto Mansur. In this same day, the Installation of the Advisory Council was celebrated and its first president was Luis Fernando Rodrigues Torres.

Right after that, the works of this historic session were finished. So, on that sublime winter day, the first milestone was set, like the Sun waking up in the horizon; gracing the Brazilian youth with the so desired foundation of the DeMolay Order in our nation.

In this year we’re completing 25 years of foundation, historic date which shows us the strength and growth of the Order, especially of the Supremo Conselho da Ordem DeMolay para o Brasil (Supreme Council of the DeMolay Order to Brazil) which had and still has the administrative control of the Order in Brazil. The largest Demolay Order in the whole world.
